60s Legend Colleen Boyd Turner Inducted into Skateboarding Hall of Fame

Before half of today’s tricks were even dreamed up, Colleen Boyd Turner was blazing trails. Now she’s a very deserving 2021 Skateboarding Hall of Fame pick. Unbelievably, this badass started skating on a piece of plywood nailed to roller skates and quickly became known for her rolling handstands and daredevil moves. In a recent interview, 70-year-old Boyd said she hopped back on the board after 55 years on solid ground. How’d it go? Well, “It’s not like riding a bike, not even close,” she said. “It’s actually pretty scary.”

Watch a teenage Boyd perform her signature moves (plus signature yes helmet no shoes look) for the Wide World of Sports in the vintage video below.
