The Southern California staple that once boasted a team that included Guy Mariano and Jamie Thomas, and spawned Erica Yary’s career, is set to close. Shop Eat Surf is reporting that Active Ride Shop’s lender, GenCap, has seized all of its assets with plans to auction them; and all 26 Active locations will be closing in the coming weeks. It’s eCommerce site has already been shut down, and most stores were offering buy one get one free deals on merchandise last weekend. Jenner Heller, who had been serving as Active’s president, announced his departure last week after a 21-year tenure with the retail giant. This is certainly the end of an era.
