Japan, China Dominate the Podium in Asian Games Skateboarding Park

Hinano Kusaki earned the gold in the Asian Games Skateboarding Park event held Monday in Hangzhou.

Kusaki’s second run of 87.78 off a 540 was good enough to seal the deal, but she unleashed an 88.87 for good measure. The Japanese teen was the only skater in the field to top 80 in all three runs.

Chinese skaters Li Yujuan and Mao Jiasi grabbed silver and bronze, respectively.

Meanwhile, the youngest skater to make it to the finals also got some spotlight in the event. Nine-year-old Mazel Alegado from the Philippines finished seventh in the finals.

The men’s division was topped by the host country’s Chen Ye, with Nagahara Yuro and Sasaoka Kensuke of Japan taking second and third place.
