Japan Dominates WST - Street World Championships - Japan

Japan dominated the World Skateboarding Tour Street Skateboarding World Championships at Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on Sunday. Sora Shirai led a men’s podium sweep, and Yumeka Oda claimed her first women’s crown.

Completing the podium in the men’s division were Kairi Netsuke and Yuto Horigome for second and third place respectively.

During the eight-day championships, athletes competed to qualify for the Paris Olympics and earn important rankings points.

Shirai earned a total of 276.81 points, followed by Netsuke with 273.60 points and Horigome with 273.28 points. The final score was based on each competitor’s best two runs and two highest-scoring tricks out of five attempts.

In the women’s skateboarding competition, Oda emerged as the winner with a total score of 265.75 points. Her best trick section received an impressive score of 94.80. She finished 3.85 points ahead of the defending world champion, Rayssa Leal. Nishiya secured the third spot with a total score of 245.76.
