Lennie Kirk Appears in KTVU News San Quentin Prison Barbershop Forum

Skaters in the Bay Area that tuned into KTVU 2 News last night got a surprise when Lennie Kirk appeared in the San Quentin edition of the Barbershop Forum. Hosted by Paul Chambers, the series is aimed at bridging the gap between the police and community through creating an open dialogue.

You can see glimpses of Kirk throughout the segment, and he weighs in with a personal insight about police encounters at the 3:43 mark.

Every time a police officer would treat me with respect, not look at me as a criminal and stuff, that would make a big difference in my life.

Kirk has been in and out of jail since 2001, and is currently serving a 13-year sentence for a third strike received in 2012. According to Dennis McGrath, he will be released next year.

Meet the 2022 USA Skateboarding National Team

USA Skateboarding just announced the members of the 2022 USA Skateboarding National Team.

The crew members were chosen based on performance in international level events the year before their selection.

The team is led by Andrew Nicolaus, Men’s Head Coach; Alexis Sablone, Women’s Head Coach; and Mimi Knoop, High-Performance Director.

The skaters named to the 2022 USA Skateboarding National Team include:

Minna Stess

Women’s Street

Mariah Duran
Paige Heyn
Poe Pinson
Samarria Brevard

Men’s Park

Cory Juneau
Gavin Bottger

Team USA earned two bronzes from Cory Juneau (Park) and Jagger Eaton (Street) during its Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Alexis Sablone made it to the Olympic Street finals placing fourth while Bryce Wettstein earned sixth place for Women’s Park.

In all, nine Skateboarding Olympians will return to the 2022 national team.
