Here’s a Look at Leo Fitzpatrick’s Public Access Gallery

If you’re walking down the right side of St. Mark’s towards Tompkins, look down when you pass 3rd. You may spot Leo Fitzpatrick sitting at the desk of Public Access—his new gallery in the heart of the East Village.

While COVID isn’t exactly ideal for opening anything, Leo is off to a great start with a Mark Gonzales show that’s up for at least another week or two, potentially longer. The space is modest at roughly 300 square feet. But the glass windows and ample lighting give it an open and airy feel despite being below street level.

We predict that Public Access is destined to become a hot spot in the vein of Alleged Gallery once art openings become a thing again post pandemic. We’ll definitely be stopping by for chats with Leo when we’re in the neighborhood. Check it out for yourself at 8 St. Mark’s Place from 2 – 7pm on Thursdays through Sundays.
