Nico Hiraga Hits the Big Screen Again in Olivia Wilde’s ‘Booksmart’

BOOKSMART OFFICIAL TRAILER 2 - [Beanie Feldstein, Kaitlyn Dever]

We’ve been sleeping on Nico Hiraga’s supporting role in Booksmart for a couple of months. But, as Transworld points out in its new interview with him, it’s kind of a big deal. The teen movie, which harkens back to classics like The Breakfast Club, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Clueless, is Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut. It also boasts Will Ferrell as one of the producers, and stars Beanie Felsdstein and  Kaitlyn Denver. Feldstein is ironically Jonah Hill’s little sister. Hiraga plays Tanner, who he describes as the tie between the jocks and skaters that likes to party and cause mischief.

While this is definitely his biggest role to date, the Illegal Civ and Lakai amateur is no stranger to the big screen or acting. He got some screen time in last summer’s Skate Kitchen, and is one of the main characters in Mikey Alfred’s Summer ’17 series. Booksmart hits theaters on May 24. Have a look at Hiraga sprinkled in throughout the above trailer if you missed it; and we dug up some supporting interview clips below.
