Real Explores DIY Skatepark Culture in New Documentary

Real presents Out of Sight: Treasure Island DIY

Repurposing abandoned spaces has been a part of skateboarding since the beginning. What started as finding empty swimming pools and schoolyards eventually gave way to DIY builds of make-shift skateparks. Roughly 90% of these projects get torn down. But there are a handful that manage to get  sanctioned as public facilities. This is the case with San Francisco’s Treasure Island DIY. Real examines the year-long process of first starting the build to getting it approved by the city in the latest installment of the “Out of Sight” series.
