After a heavy nod in Unbanned: The Legend of AJ1, skate culture gets further validation as an integral part of the Air Jordan 1’s DNA via Nike’s upcoming release of a trio of skate-inspired Lows. The added ankle padding and heavy use of suede clearly references traditional skate silhouettes; and the cream and gum rubber sole colorway could almost pass for a Duffs or Airwalk shoe from a couple of decades ago. While Nike SB and Jordan have collaborated in the past, this trio of sneakers reminds us that a Jordan Brand foray into skateboarding would certainly work well in today’s footwear landscape. These will be releasing this spring at select Jordan retailers and via Nike.com.
