Monster Energy UNLEASHED Podcast Chats with Skateboarding Icon Ishod Wair
Ishod Wair, X Games Gold Medalist & Thrasher Magazine ‘Skater of the Year’ – UNLEASHED Podcast E313

Your favorite pro skater’s favorite skater, Ishod Wair, drops by Studio M inside Monster Energy headquarters in Corona, California, for episode 313 of the “UNLEASHED with The Dingo, Danny, and Brittney” podcast.

New Jersey-born and raised, Wair’s rise began when he won the 2011 Kimberley Diamond Cup pro-competition as an amateur rider, bagging a $100,000 cash prize. He was later declared Skater of the Year by Thrasher Magazine in 2013–the first African-American to get the title.

While Wair’s true passion lies in showcasing his versatile skateboarding skills on the streets and transition spots, he has also proven his mettle in competitive arenas. His impressive portfolio boasts victories in renowned events such as Street League Skateboarding, Copenhagen Pro Open, and even an X Games gold medal.

When he’s not busy shredding the skateboarding world and embarking on thrilling tours, Wair struts his stuff on the catwalk, showcasing his unique style and commanding presence. His journey even took him to prestigious shows for the influential designer Virgil Abloh (RIP).

Reflecting on his connection with Abloh, Wair admits, “I actually never met Virgil personally; I would always talk to him online about skating and this and that. As time has gone on, I have looked up more and more to him. He’s an amazing person and done a lot of amazing things for people.”

When asked about the pressures that accompany the high-fashion world, Wair replies, “I literally fall in front of thousands of people all the time. Why would I worry about walking through a room in front of a couple of hundred people?”

Produced by Monster Energy, UNLEASHED sports and pop culture podcast is hosted by Australian action sports personality Luke “The Dingo” Trembath, professional snowboarder Danny Kass, and UFC ambassador Brittney Palmer.
