Will Vice’s Massive Layoff Affect Its Skate Programming?

News broke over the weekend that Vice Media laid off 10% of its staff, 250 employees, on Friday. It is a similar scenario to what was going on in the Transworld building last week. According to the Huffington Post, a wide range of departments at Vice were affected.

One employee who survived the cuts told The Wrap’s Jon Levine that a range of staffers were impacted, from production assistants to more senior individuals, including a producer for Vice News Tonight’s 2017 report on violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

While skateboarding is not a primary focus at Vice, it has always been a part of its DNA. It’s uncertain on whether or not the layoffs will affect the media brand’s skate programming. We already did not see the return of Epicly Later’d to Viceland in 2018.
