Danny Way Reveals His Next Stunt for the 2020 Olympic Games

Danny Way has yet to appear on one of the many skate podcasts until now. Somehow, Andy Roy managed to get the Mega Ramp innovator to sit down for a nearly two-hour conversation in the latest episode of Ripride. Wonders never cease. At the 22:56 mark, Way reveals his next stunt that he’s planning to do for the opening of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

I’ve got this thing I’m working on right now in Tokyo. I’m trying to jump off a blimp into a quarterpipe. I’ve jumped off some shit into a ramp before. It’s not really that serious. This is like taking the helicopter thing; and building a ramp that’s three times as big; and jumping out of it five times higher. Right now, the hypothetical design is a 70-foot tall quarterpipe and a 50-foot drop. So it’s like 13 stories. I’m at a stage of my career where I’m like, “Why inch my way up to where I’m going?” I don’t have time for that shit. I might not be able to build one of these again. So I may as well put it all on the line… I’m trying to do this right before the opening ceremony of the Olympics on ESPN.

This sounds wild. We’re definitely tuning in.
