Margielyn Didal Suffered Ankle Injury

Filipino skateboarder Margielyn Didal injured her ankle while competing in Red Bull Skate Levels in Brazil.

She underwent surgery to fix her ankle but she won’t be skating for a while. In her Instagram post, she promised her fans that she would be back.

Thank you for all your prayers, it means a lot.

I know its part of the game but also its a lesson to learn that you have to listen/feel your body and learn to have a break/rest.

I’ll be out for a bit but I’ll be back soon ✌?

Just last week, Didal competed and won in the 2022 Exposure Street Open Pro, a skateboarding event for women, trans, binary, and other gender-diverse individuals.

Her other wins this year include the Red Bull Solus competition in July, the Red Bull Manny Mania Best Trick award in August, and the Mass Bali Women’s finals in September.

She was the Philippines’ representative to the Tokyo Olympics where she finished 7th place. She is also aiming to qualify for the next Olympics in Paris in 2024.

Didal won two golds in the South East Asian Games back in 2019 for Street and Game of Skate and another gold in the 2018 Asian Games. She was also the first Filipino to compete in X Games and Street League Skateboarding in 2018.

Get well soon, Margie!
