Margielyn Didal Wins Exposure 2022 Street Open-Pro

It’s another victory for Margielyn Didal after winning the Exposure 2022 Street Open Pro Division held last October 22-23 at the Encinitas Community Skate Plaza.

Wenhui Zeng aka ZOE and Ricci Tres finished second and third respectively.

The skateboarder from the Philippines recently won the Mass Bali Women’s finals in September. She also won the Red Bull Solus competition held in July of this year and the Red Bull Manny Mania Best Trick award.

This is not Didal’s first win for the Exposure-sponsored events. She also won the Street Pro event back in 2018. In 2019 she placed second in the Exposure Street 15 and Up Division. In 2020, during the pandemic, Exposure held a video part contest instead of an in-person event. Margielyn Didal placed second in that contest.

You can watch her winning entry below.

For the Exposure 2022 Bowl Open Pro Division, Kihana Ogawa took the top spot. Fellow Japanese skater Yuzuki Mizote finished second and Ruby Lilley from the USA placed third.

Ruby Lilley also joined the Vert Open Pro division and won the event. Bryce Wettstein and Yujuan Li placed second and third respectively.

Aside from the Pro Street, Bowl, and Vert divisions, the event also featured Intermediate and Advanced Street; Intermediate, Advanced, and Gold Bowl; Cash for Tricks; Longest Grind; and Highest Air.

You can find the complete list of winners for this year’s and past years’ events here.

Established in 2012, Exposure is a skateboarding event for women, trans, binary, and other gender-diverse individuals.

The annual event was created to increase the representation of powerful female, trans, and nonbinary skateboarders in the media and challenge societal norms and at the same time raise awareness about domestic violence and donate proceeds to a local shelter for survivors of domestic violence.

The proceeds from the event go to the Domestic Violence Program of the Community Resource Center (CRC).

After the success of the inaugural Exposure event, the founders decided to establish Exposure Skate, a non-profit dedicated to empowering women, Trans & Non-Binary individuals through skateboarding.

Aside from the annual Exposure contest, the organization also holds learn-to-skate clinics, community service learning, and wellness education. You can learn more about their programs here.
