AZ has been a highly-respected MC since he dropped his iconic opening verse on Nas’ “Life’s A Bitch” in 1994. View BET’s documentary on him from 2016 for a quick history lesson if you need it. A full 25 years later, the Brooklyn rapper is still dropping heat as evidenced by his latest offering, which features classic bars over a throwback Cool G Rap and DJ Polo beat from ’89. It was great to see Bronze give AZ some shine last year by using “Sugar Hill” for John Shanahan’s second song in It’s Time, which is ironically the name of AZ’s new track. Punk rock and skateboarding collide at When We Were Young Fest held last month! Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Jason Ellis, Jimmy Wilkins and more showed up to skate and mosh.

The two-day event featured performances by top artists of the 2000s, including Avril Lavigne, the singer of Sk8er Boi.

Tony Hawk also had a surprise performance on the stage with the Gold Finger.

Based around a Spotify playlist curated for skateboarding that represents the sounds of skating in Miami, the event drew a crowd of locals, Pros, and music fans under the bridge at Lot 11 for free food, skating with pros, and live musical performances by the Jacuzzi Boys.
