Etnies Aims to Plant 3 Million Trees through its BASPAT project

Published

on

Planning to buy a pair of skate shoes? Might as well support the Etnies’ cause while you’re at it.

Etnies has now planted over 2 million trees since 2011 with its Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree (BASPAT) project. That’s an equivalent of 200 million lbs. of carbon sequestered in a span of 20 years.

Now Etnies is trying to reach a goal of 3 million trees. From Earth Day (April 22) to May 22, Etnies will plant a tree for every pair of shoes purchased from Etnies.com.

Not due for a pair of shoes yet? You can buy their BASPAT sticker for a dollar and Etnies will plant a tree for each sticker sold.

For the rest of the year, Etnies will continue to plant a tree for every Jameson 2 Eco sold.

The project started in 2011 when Etnies partnered with the Maleku Tribe and La Reserva Forest Foundation in Costa Rica. They were able to plant 35,000 trees by the end of 2011.

Later, Etnies partnered with Trees for the Future and expanded their project in Brazil and then Africa.
