Red Bull Solus People’s Choice Award Winners Announced
Eli Williams and Marina Gabriela are this year’s People’s Choice Award winners for the Red Bull Solus.
Now in its third year, Red Bull Sōlus is a digital skate competition conceptualized by Ryan Sheckler.
Last June 6-8, each invited skater was given one hour at the SC Sandlot to film their best continuous line and were judged based on overall impression with emphasis on a combination of difficulty, style, use of course, and trick selection.
While Williams and Gabriela got the people’s nod, Margielyn Didal and Dashawn Jordan got the approval of the judges in this year’s Red Bull Solus.
The Bay area native Williams has been a pro for less than a year, but that didn’t stop him from competing with more seasoned skaters. He placed third in the final standings. Eli skates for Doom Sayers, Cons, Ace, Bender Hardware, Jessup, and Spitfire.
“The Queen of Macba” from Sao Paulo, Brazil also placed third in the competition. Marina skates for New Balance Numeric, Primitive, Maze São Paulo, Crupie, Independent, and Bones Bearings.
