Skateboarding Hits the Big Screen Again in ‘The Last Black Man in San Francisco’

The Last Black Man in San Francisco is set to hit theaters on June 14. It stars Jimmie Fails as a black skater trying to hang on to his identity and sense of home in the rapidly changing city. From the looks of this first trailer released by A24 this morning, Joe Talbot’s tale of gentrification in S.F. utilizes skateboarding in a clever way to help enhance the narrative as opposed to being a central focus. The film features Danny Glover and Mike Epps, as well as stunt work from skaters that you’ll likely recognize like Nile Gibbs. Watch the trailer above.
