Thrasher Unveils Ukrainian Skate Doc: ‘Revolutions on Granite’

Published

on

Thrasher’s emotionally-charged documentary surrounding Kyiv’s city plaza, Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square), focuses not only on its importance as a prime skate spot and home for a vibrant Ukrainian skate scene, but the rich historical significance of the monument. This full-length documentary originally aimed to tell the story of the spot and was filmed in 2021, just a few months before Russia launched its attack. Given the conflict and humanitarian disaster that followed, however, “Revolutions on Granite” quickly evolved into the heartfelt story of community, resiliency, and the value of freedom, all told through the lens of skateboarding.

This important film is dedicated to the loving skate community of Kyiv, and all resilient Ukranians affected by this tragedy, and all names have been removed to protect the skaters’ safety. If you’d like to join Thrasher in supporting refugees fleeing Ukraine, donate here.
