DC Skateboarders Launch Petition to Save Freedom Plaza

Published

on

Over 9,000 people have signed a petition to “Save Freedom Plaza” at change.org.

This is after National Capital Planning Commission announced its plan to eliminate and replace the Freedom Plaza as part of the Pennsylvania Avenue Initiative.

Known as a place for protests and civic events, the site is also a popular skateboarding spot.

Not only is it a one of a kind place on earth but it’s also a cultural melting pot and one of DC’s loudest places to make your voices heard. With protests, live music, dance, unicycle games of hockey, Go-Go’s, food trucks (bbq cook offs), also a long-standing home of DC’s skateboarding scene…

Crushed Skate Shop owner Brian Aguilar started the online petition. You can find the petition and join the cause to save a local favorite skating spot here.
