We’re a little late on this, but Wax Poetics introduced a new podcast earlier this month. If you’re a fan of hip hop, this is definitely something that you’ll want to follow. The first episode features Del the Funky Homosapien talking about his No Need For Alarm album, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. ’93 was a great year for music! At the 1:30:00 mark, Del speaks directly to this album’s connection with skateboarding.
The thing that I like the most about it is a lot of skaters like that album…I used to be hanging around skaters all of the time. So I wanted to make something that we could kind of feel. So to look back now…I get a lot of work from companies in the skate industry and through skate culture specifically because they are so fond of that time, and that album. That’s one of the things that I’m most proud of about it. It spoke to my culture, but it really spoke to the skater culture too.
