Thrasher Unveils Posthumous Release of Jake Phelps Zine

Jake Phelps may be gone; but the hell ride continues. Thrasher announced last night that it will be posthumously releasing Phelps’s Angel Dust zine. The original plan was to drop this on the one-year anniversary of Phelps’s death back in March. But, in what is a reoccurring theme of 2020, the pandemic threw a monkey wrench in that plan. Better late than never. Initial copies will be available at Thrasher’s S.F. store before the wider release at skate shops, and online. This is another one that you’ll want for your collection.

A few days before Jake Phelps departed on March 14, 2019, he put his inimitable finishing touches on what was a real passion project, a special zine he'd been working on for over a year, created and curated by the Phelper himself. Our plan was to release Angel Dust on the one year anniversary of his passing, but Covid got in the way. That said, there's no derailing Jake, so as the City slowly reopens, we've decided to unleash the zine onto the world. Starting Wednesday, August 5th, Angel Dust will be available at @66_6th in San Francisco, alongside a new exhibit dedicated to our late editor-in-chief. Eventually it will be available at skateshops and online, details to follow shortly. Big Love and thanks to Cameron Padgett and Tom Shattuck, who worked alongside Jake to make this labor of love a reality. These pages meant the world to him. The old man lives on 👓
