Rayssa Leal Wins STU Open
Rayssa Leal won the Women’s Skateboard Street competition at STU Open 2022 in Rio de Janeiro.


Fresh off a recent victory at SLS Las Vegas, the 14-year-old Brazilian skater took home a $50,000 cash prize.
Fellow Brazilan Pamela Rosa and 12-year-old Australian Chloe Covell came in at second and third place respectively.
In the Men’s Street competition, Brazilians Joao Lucas Alvez, Ivan Monteiro, and Kelvin Hoefler swept the podium.
Sky Brown won the Women’s Park Competition. Sakura Yosozumi took the second spot and Mina Stess placed third.
Australian Keegan Palmer finished first in the Men’s Park division. Tate Carew and Luiz Francisco joined him at the podium for second and third place respectively.

SPoT’s 2023 Old Man Bowl Jam Set this January
Skatepark of Tampa starts the year with its annual 2023 Old Man Bowl Jam which will be held on January 28.
Now in its 13th year, the Old Man Bowl is like the Tampa Pro for retired pros, old GOATS, team industry heads, and skaters 30 years old and above.
There will be three divisions–30-39;40-49; and 50 and up. Contestants in each division skate in a 30-minute Ordered Jam. Skate until you fall with a first-wall rebate. Each skater receives individual scores based on their overall performance during the allotted time. Judges will be looking for difficulty, execution, variety, style, and speed. The final score is the average of the three individual judges’ scores. Prizes are awarded to the Top 3.
The fee is $25 for online advanced registration and $30 for in-person registration on the day of the event. You can register here.

T-Funk Wins SLS 2022 Trick of the Year
Tristan Funkhouser, more popularly known as T-funk is the Street League Skateboarding 2022 Trick of the Year winner.
T-Funk was also one of the finalists for Thrasher’s 2022 Skater of the Year, but the title went to Tyshawn Jones.
Here are the winners of the other side awards given out by SLS and the corresponding sponsors.

- (Visible) Line of the Year Award – Carlos Ribeiro
- (Tiger Beer) Against All Odds Award – Justin Bishop
- (BB Seguros) Style Matters Award – Jake Wooten
- (Skater XL) XL Combo Award -Marcelo Profeta
T-Funk got $10,000 for winning the 2022 Trick of the Year while the side award winners took home $1,000 each.

The 2022 USA Skateboarding National Championships Recap
Jagger Eaton took the top spot of the Men’s Street division of the 2022 USA Skateboarding National Championships which took place earlier this month at the CA|TF, Vista, California.
Joining him on the podium for second and third place respectively are Jake Ilardi and Braden Hoban.
Eaton excels in both street and park disciplines. In 2021, he won the Street League Skateboarding Super Crown. Earlier this year, he earned a gold medal X Games Chiba 2022 for Men’s Skateboard Park. He attempted to qualify for both the street and park games of the Tokyo Olympics but ended up competing for street skating only and winning the bronze medal.
He also placed second in the park division of the 2022 USA Skateboarding National Championships. Tate Carew took the top spot and Liam Pace landed third.
In women’s street, 14-year-old Paige Heyn won the championships. Secret Lynn and Christine Cottam joined her on the podium for second and third place respectively.
Bryce Wettstein, Ruby Lilley, and Grace Marhoefer are the top three for the women’s park division.
