Finally: Chico Brenes Launches Chico Stix Boards & Apparel
When Chico Brenes left Chocolate after a 24-year run, we were anticipating an announcement that he would be joining Palace. That never came. And a few months later, he spoke about retirement during an interview with Tommy Guerrero. Despite coming to grips with at late-stage career, the Cheeks continued to produce. His 2019 7×7 part stands up to anything released during his career, which spans nearly three decades at this point. Skateboarding has collectively been waiting for someone to make a board with Chico’s name on it. That day has arrived via the unveiling of Chico Stix. And the first round of boards are already sold out, which is a heavy indicator of this project’s trajectory.
